East Bengal FC took a point from Oman but remain without a win in their AFC Champions League Two Group D campaign. Their 0–0 draw with Al Seeb on 27 October leaves the Kolkata club third in the group on two points after three fixtures.
Chances at both ends
Al Seeb threatened early, testing goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa and creating openings around the penalty area. East Bengal responded with attempts from David Lalhlansanga and Anwar Ali. Edmund Lalrindika had an opportunity shortly after half-time but could not put his effort on target.
With neither side converting, the match finished goalless. The clean sheet offers a defensive positive, but East Bengal’s inability to score means the club has work to do in the second half of its group schedule.
Why 3 November matters
East Bengal and Al Seeb meet again in Kolkata on 3 November. According to the Asian Football Confederation, Al Shorta led Group D with seven points after Matchday Three, followed by Al Hussein with five. East Bengal were third with two and Al Seeb fourth with one. The home fixture is therefore important to East Bengal’s qualification hopes.
