Metro-first pandal hopping: how to plan it
The Kolkata Metro can reduce long cross-city transfers, but it does not serve every pandal directly. The Blue Line offers useful access for many North and South Kolkata neighbourhoods, while the Green Line connects parts of Salt Lake. Choose a suggested station from your circuit, use the transit directions link, then continue to the pandal using its own directions. Station operations, interchanges, schedules and festival-night services must be checked on the day.
How to begin navigation from your current location
- Choose one of the seven circuits.
- Tap Start from My Location. Google Maps can use your device’s location when available and permitted.
- Check the first pandal’s map pin and tap Start in Google Maps if it opens a preview.
- When you reach the first stop, open the next numbered Google Maps leg. The final stop of each leg is repeated as the first stop of the following leg.
- Use the complete public My Maps viewer to see the entire collection of 44 unique locations.
Why are routes divided into legs? Google Maps waypoint limits differ by device and platform. Shorter legs are more reliable than a single link with 13 or more stops. Subsequent legs specify their starting pandal; the initial link is the one designed to use the visitor’s current location.
Share the routes with friends
Open and share the complete MOJO PULSE pandal map ↗. To share an individual circuit, copy this article’s URL after tapping its circuit name in the overview. The link will include the circuit’s section anchor so your friends can jump directly to it. Google Maps directions may need to be opened separately on each person’s phone.
Travel and safety essentials
Festival road closures, pedestrian barricades and crowd queues may make some mapped road routes unusable. Follow local instructions and check Kolkata Police and Metro Railway Kolkata for current advisories. Carry water, keep your phone charged, agree on meeting points and choose a shorter route if you are travelling with children or anyone who may find dense crowds difficult.
Frequently asked questions
How many pandals are in this guide?
There are 44 unique named destinations across six geographical circuits, plus a seventh, shorter South Kolkata alternative containing six overlapping stops.
Can I open the full route directly in Google Maps?
You can view all destinations on the public interactive map. For navigation, use the first-stop current-location link and consecutive direction legs. Google Maps may open a preview that requires you to tap Start.
Which Metro station should I use?
Each circuit lists suggested Metro access stations. The nearest practical station depends on your chosen pandal, operating conditions and pedestrian restrictions.
Can I share a particular circuit?
Yes. Tap the circuit name in the route overview, then copy the page URL containing its section anchor. You can also share the public Google My Maps viewer.
MOJO PULSE Insight
A good Puja route is not simply the one with the most pandals. It is one that keeps travel manageable while giving you time to experience Kolkata’s neighbourhoods, installations and community traditions. Choose a circuit, leave room for queues and keep the complete map available as a backup.
Editorial note: These are MOJO PULSE’s suggested itineraries, not official traffic directions. Search-based pins and exact 2026 entrances require verification. Google Maps and transit links are third-party services; no commercial endorsement is implied.
