CPM and Congress Allege Party-Office Vandalism in Rajarhat on Dashami Night

RAJARHAT, 22 October 2026 | From the Breaking News Desk. Local political representatives have reported damage to a Communist Party of India (Marxist) office and a nearby Congress office in the Rajarhat area following incidents alleged to have occurred on Wednesday night, 21 October, during Vijaya Dashami. Accounts published by two Bengali news outlets describe vandalism allegations but do not establish who was responsible.

Where were the alleged incidents?

The CPM office is reported to be in the Basina Mandalpara area of Bishnupur-II gram panchayat in Rajarhat. The Congress office is described as being in the nearby Shibtala area. Both are within the broader Rajarhat–New Town region.

What is alleged, and what is confirmed?

CPM representatives have accused local BJP workers of involvement and have alleged that the office was targeted previously. Those are political allegations and not a police or court finding. The available reporting does not independently establish the identities of the attackers or the precise damage at each location.

As of this report, MOJO PULSE has not independently verified the contents of any formal police complaint, arrest record or public response from the BJP representatives named in the allegations. The absence of a response in the material reviewed should not be interpreted as agreement with the accusation.

What happens next?

Whether the incidents are treated as criminal vandalism, whether cases are registered and whether any individuals are identified will depend on police inquiries and evidence, including photographs, witness accounts and any available surveillance footage. Political parties and residents should avoid sharing unverified claims about perpetrators.

For the wider New Town–Rajarhat area, the immediate public-interest issue is protecting political offices, public spaces and surrounding residents from intimidation or violence, regardless of affiliation.

Developing report: allegations are attributed to the parties and local reporting. Any police account or response from those accused will be added as it becomes available.
